Our work

As part of the University of Costa Rica, we conduct research, teaching, and social-oriented activities focused on the biology, transmission, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of helminth infections

The lab focuses on the research of helminths of human, veterinary and wildlife parasite, especially Angiostrongylus costaricensis, Spirocerca lupi and Toxocara canis

Part of our commitment is to attend communities vulnerable to parasitic infections in order to diagnose them and teach preventive measures in children populations

Teaching

Members of the lab are involved in teaching courses about the biology, transmission, epidemiology, pathogenesis and prevention of helminths and other parasitic infections to pregrade and grade students

National Collection of Helminthology

All nematode, trematode and cestode specimens collected in Costa Rica are kept in wet and mounted Collection

Coprological and parasitological analyses of human and companion animals are offered without any charge to those interested. More info in this section
