Teaching

Members of the lab are involved in teaching courses about the biology, transmission, epidemiology, pathogenesis and prevention of helminths and other parasitic infections to pregrade and grade students

Medical Helminthology

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, abilities, and skills that allow the correct diagnosis of helminth infections of human medical importance, with emphasis on Costa Rica and Latin America. It is intended to stimulate the student and train him in the search for solutions to the problems caused by these parasites. To achieve this, general knowledge of taxonomy, morphology, biological cycle, epidemiology, pathogenic mechanisms, immunology, symptomatology, pathology, diagnosis, and prevention of nematodes, trematodes and cestodes is required.

General Microbiology

Grade students in the careers of Nutrition, Nursery, Public Health and Environmental Health learn the most important aspects of parasitic, bacterial, viral and fungal infections.
